Video Shows Hazards Involved in Replacing Swollen Lithium Batteries

Have you ever wondered why Apple doesn’t change batteries at the store? Well, the answer seems to be staring right at our face in the form of a video. Replacing batteries seems to be a risky job, especially if you don’t have the required tools or are not a professional.

Redditor tryagainin47seconds posted a video which shows a coworker trying to change an iPhone battery. However, while changing the battery the iPhone 5S blew up causing quite a serious explosion. It is also possible that the person may have punctured the battery while removing it. All said and done it is a reminder of how we need to let professionals handle certain things. Check out the video here.

The video shows a man trying to stomp and extinguish the fire. Even this can prove to be dangerous as lithium-ion batteries burn at high temperatures and are likely to cause serious injuries. Additionally, the fumes from lithium-ion batteries are hazardous too. If you or your family member are using an iPhone with swollen battery please take it to the nearest Apple Service Centre and get it replaced.
Our Take

It is not uncommon for lithium-ion batteries to explode. We have already witnessed how Samsung Galaxy Note 7 wreaked havoc with overheating and exploding batteries. At the same time, we need to realize that a faulty charger or unreliable power supply is also likely to cause such incidents. In some cases, the third-party battery is the culprit.

The cathode and the anode on the lithium-ion batteries are separated by a thin polyethylene separator. In compact batteries, the separator is thinner and is prone to a short circuit, which is apparently one of the biggest reason for causing a fire. Make sure that you use a genuine battery that is in good shape, genuine charger/charging cable and ensure there is enough ventilation while charging.Sponsor ads:

All-round Solutions to Fix Samsung Mobile Data Not Working

Solution 1: Enable The Right Network Mode

This is probably the most important remedy, as not choosing the proper network mode will definitely trouble you while accessing mobile data.

The change of settings may have happened during the update or it was just accidental. But if you have a Samsung mobile that supports 4G and then the 4G setting will be visible at the network settings but if you are using a device that does not support 4G but the OS installed supports 4G then your Samsung device will be looking for the 4G signals which are not supported by the device.

So, changing the option is quite easy;

Step 1: Open the Samsung mobile and navigate to "Settings".

Step 2: Then, go to "Mobile Data" and then tap on "Network Mode".

After that, if your phone supports 4G then select 4G, if not then you can select 2G/3G options.
Solution 2: Remove and Reinsert Your SIM Card

Some will say that it is better to restart your mobile if you are facing such problems but one of the most effective solutions would be to remove and re-insert your SIM Card. Actually, if your Samsung mobile is having mobile data issues then it will be one of the things you can try. It is very simple.

Turn off your mobile and remove the SIM Card. Insert another different SIM card and see if it works. Additionally, you can take the following steps to ensure that you have fixed the mobile data problem thoroughly;

Step 1: Before you restart the device, activate Airplane Mode.

Step 2: Wait for no more than 30 seconds and deactivate it.

Step 3: If mobile data is still unavailable, turn on Airplane mode and then turn your phone off, wait for a minute, then turn your phone back on, and again turn Airplane Mode off, wait for thirty seconds, then turn mobile data on.

Solution 3: Reset APNs

It is possible that the mobile data issue on your Samsung mobile could have happened due to a change in APN settings. The APN or Access Point Names are very important in order to access the internet.

It is via the APNs the network provider connects your mobile to the internet. So, these crucial settings like IP addresses and gateways need to be set properly. But it is quite possible that during the setup process something went wrong and that mistake is interfering with your mobile data connection. So, a simple reset will do the trick;

Step 1: Open your Samsung mobile and go to "Settings".

Step 2: Then, navigate to "Mobile Data/Wireless Controls/Wireless & Networks".

Step 3: After that, go to "Mobile Networks" and tap on "Access Point Names".

Step 4: You will view a list of APNs.

Step 5: Lastly, tap on those vertical lines and reset the APNs.

So, resetting the APNs could fix your Samsung device's mobile data related issue. If not, the next solution.
Solution 4: Cancel The Tick of Limit Mobile Data Usage

Every Android mobile including Samsung has mobile data limitation option. If you set it, you will be warned before you reach your mobile data usage limit. But these options are not activated automatically.

But it is possible that the Android somehow failed to remember your set limitations. This issue usually occurs after the OS update, the system just sets it to default. So, here' how to fix this;Read Next:best vr apps android

Step 1: So, open your Samsung mobile and go to "Settings".

Step 2: Navigate to "Mobile Data/Data Usage".

Step 3: Now, your data usage chart will be visible on the screen along with a graph that shows the ups and downs of your data usage.

Step 4: Now, here you can turn off the limitations by unchecking the box beside, "Limit Mobile Information Use".

This is a very simple procedure and it definitely works if the settings were set to default after an update.
Solution 5: Clear The Cache Partition

The Cache Partition consists of apps, temporary files, various logs, etc. etc. And these files take a substantial amount of space on the device, which may result in a slow performing mobile or even frequent crashes. It is also possible that the Cache partition is also interfering with your mobile data.

So, here's how you can fix it;Also Read:music torrents

Step 1: First, shut down your Samsung mobile.

Step 2: Now, press and hold the Power button and the Volume Up button and the Home button at the same time.

Step 3: After the Android logo appears on the screen, you can let go of the Volume Up button and the Home button and wait for the Android System Recovery menu to appear.

Step 4: There will be several options on the screen, you can use the Volume button to highlight the "Wipe Cache Partition" option.

Step 5: Tap the Power button just execute the highlighted option.

Step 6: Then, again use the Volume button to highlight the "Yes" option and then use the "Power" button to execute your choice.

Step 7: After you have cleared the Cache Partition, the "Reboot System Now" option will get highlighted.

Step 8: Finally, press the Power button to restart your Samsung mobile.

You can use this procedure even if you are not having trouble with your mobile data. Those cache files take a significant amount of space and they need to be cleared every few weeks.
Solution 6: Install QuickPanel Restore App (image of app icon from Galaxy Apps store)

You can also use the latest app launched by Samsung to fix the said issue with mobile data. This latest app by Samsung is called "QuickPanel". The company released this app in order to fix irritating bugs on their devices.

So, it is regarded as one of the official solutions for the said issue. You can give it a try, the user responses were very positive.

iOS 9.3.6 and iOS 10.3.4 released with GPS bug fix

iOS 10.3.4
Along with iOS 12.4, Apple has also seeded two new updates for legacy Apple devices. If you have a compatible iPhone or iPad model, you can install iOS 9.3.6 or 10.3.4 update on it. Check the compatibility status of your device below.

IOS 9.3.6 AND 10.3.4 PREVENT GPS ISSUES

iOS 12.4 was not the only version released by Apple yesterday. Users having older iPhones and cellular iPads that are still running on an older version can also look forward to a new firmware.
iOS 9.3.6 and iOS 10.3.4 come with a patch for a GPS bug, which could potentially affect your location data later this year.
That also explains why the Wi-Fi models of the iPad have not received an update, because they do not have a GPS sensor.

These versions are necessary to prevent cellular devices from being affected by the weekly rotation in GPS software.
The said GPS bug resets to zero the number stored in navigation devices making the device think it’s 1999. Manufacturers have already released updates before the bug could affect their navigation devices.

WHICH MODELS ARE COMPATIBLE WITH THESE UPDATES?

The update will be available for the following iPads and iPhones –

IOS 10.3.4

  • iPhone 5
  • iPad fourth-generation (Cellular)

IOS 9.3.6

  • iPad 2 (Cellular)
  • iPad mini 1 (Cellular)
  • iPad 3 (Cellular)
  • iPhone 4s

SHOULD I UPDATE MY APPLE DEVICE?

If you don’t install this version before November 3, 2019, your device may not be able to accurately determine the location.
Apps and other native features that on the correct time can also experience issues. Synchronizing with iCloud or opening the Mail app can be affected by this.
Thankfully, WiFi-only iPad and iPod touch models will not experience this bug. As a result, Apple has not released an update for those models.

What’s New in iOS 12.3

Hot on the heels of the release of iOS 12.2 last month, Apple seeded the first beta of iOS 12.3 as well. The company has since then gone ahead and dropped two more beta releases of iOS 12.3 as well. Unlike iOS 12.2, iOS 12.3 is a minor update that focuses primarily on upgrading the Apple TV app.

With the Apple TV+ slated for a fall launch, it is not surprising to see Apple focusing on improving the TV app with an upcoming iOS 12 release. Apart from an overhauled Apple TV app though, iOS 12.3 also packs a number of other changes. Read below to find out.
What’s New in iOS 12.3
New TV App

As mentioned above, the TV app in iOS is receiving a major update with iOS 12.3 update. It is being updated to add support for Apple TV Channels which will allow users to subscribe to third-party streaming services directly from within the app. The upgraded TV app will also be available in more parts of the world compared to the existing app. Some supported channels include CBS All Access, Starz, Showtime, HBO, Mubi, and more.

The new app will make use of machine learning to provide TV show and movie recommendations to users.

The upgraded TV app also has a new Kids tab to show content appropriate for kids. It will also allow
New Icon for TV Remote App

The TV Remote app in iOS 12 will gain a new icon with the iOS 12.3 update.
Detailed Transaction History in Wallet App

The Wallet app is also getting an upgrade as a part of the iOS 12.3 update. It will show detailed transaction history instead of just listing the last few transactions like it currently does. Apple is making this change ahead of the release of Apple Card later this year.
iOS 12.3 Release Date

Apple is widely expected to release iOS 12.3 in May ahead of WWDC 2019 in June. iOS 12.3 is going to be the last major release of iOS 12 as post WWDC, Apple will only be focusing on iOS 13 which is expected to come with some major new features. Like every year, iOS 13 will be released for all compatible iPhones and iPads in the second half of September.

Apple Music ‘For You’ Section Offering New Recommendations Based on Themes

Apple Music is still, technically, a fledgling service with a lot of room to grow. One of the areas that it can certainly improve upon is recommendations, based on suggestions, past listening, and “likes”. Themes can also be a nice way to offer up customized playlists, and, according to a new report, that’s exactly what’s happening now.

9to5Mac is reporting on Monday that Apple Music’s “For You” section, the area that deals with customized playlists and listening history, is getting theme-based recommendation playlists. According to the publication, the change is happening now, but, as is par for the course, it will be a gradual rollout. Which means if you don’t see the recommendations based on themes yet, you should here in the coming weeks.

There are new categories, including “Case of the Mondays”. But, what should really stand out, are new recommended playlists based on artists you’ve previously listened to. There are other categories, including “To Make You Smile” as well. If you prefer to get recommendations based on genres, that’s rolling out as part of this update as well.

Perhaps the best news of all is that Apple reportedly plans on updating the “For You” section much more frequently than it has in the past. The idea is to get even more content in the section, so you can keep finding and loving new music.

And as usual, keep “liking” and “disliking” music as it pops up, that way the music streaming platform can continue to learn your tastes and build upon that.

It was recently reported that, despite being relatively new on the scene, Apple Music had passed Spotify in terms of paid subscribers in the United States.
Our Take

This is incredibly good news. Ever since switching full-time to Apple Music the service has definitely gotten better about recommendations, but more is always a good thing, and it means even more of an opportunity to tweak the platform based on an individual’s tastes.
